Ford never rests and the company is already working on development of the future 2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series pickup trucks. New model is expected to go on sale in 2016.
Well, as you can see on these photos, the prototype model recently tested is covered in camouflage almost completely, so it is difficult to notice the details, such as headlights and taillights, styling of the body, etc. If rumors are true, the new 2017 Ford Super Duty will be mostly revised and different than the current 2014 model. It will probably look as an refreshed 2015 F-150 pickup truck.
The prototype model is quite large and looks strong. We can expect better towing and payload ratings. It appears like there are some storage compartments embedded on the outer side of the bed, that also existed in previous models, but only as an option.
On the back, under the right side of the rear bumper, we can see a dual exhaust pipes, which suggest that the future models will be powered by a diesel engine. Now, let’s say something about the rumored performance.
2017 Ford Super Duty Engine Range
Ford recently unveiled their 2015 Power Stroke diesel engine which supposedly can produce 440 horsepower and 860 pound-feet of torque (photo below). The future 2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series lineup might be powered by this engine, so we can expect same output numbers or even better performance. If rumors are true, this powertrain will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Some reports suggest that there will also be a 6.2-liter eight-cylinder gasoline engine with direct injection. These are all just rumors. Exact performance details will be known in a year or two.
Like I mentioned at the beginning of this article, Ford will release the F-Series Super Duty lineup sometime in 2016 for 2017 model year.
Finally, this is why you came to this page. Here are some spy shots of the upcoming 2017 Ford Super Duty pickup truck.
