The 2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series lineup is expected to be released in the second half of 2016. All models are based on the popular F-150 pickup truck, but have many features that will distinguish them from their little cousin.
2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series Design
Most of the models in the Super Duty lineup will resemble the recently released 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck, but the front end with twin-bar grille, bumper and quad-beam LED headlights are somewhat different. The cab will be offered in regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew variants. The 2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series lineup is made of aluminum, making it up to 350 pounds lighter, and sits on the all-new high-strength steel frame. We can notice that the Super Duty trucks are bigger and stronger, meaning that all of them will be able to withstand greater effort and carry more cargo. The towing capacity and payload ratings should be improved. The prototype model recently spotted on the streets also has some storage compartments on the side. We are not sure if these will come as a standard, all the previous models got those as an optional equipment. On the back, the box is also changed compared to the F-150, and comes with LED taillights that follow the lines of the tailgate.
Interior Styling, Safety Features
Interior of the 2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series is also very similar to the latest F-150, thus having the same design and all the improvements as the popular truck. The dashboard boasts a large 8-inch TFT color screen equipped with the latest SYNC 3 technology and modern infotainment system. All the controls and buttons are positioned below it, while the auxiliary switches can be found on the overhead console. Some buttons can also be found on the steering wheel. Some of the safety features that will be included with the F-Series trucks include both the truck’s and trailer’s blind spot monitor, lane departure warning system connected with the steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, collision warning, computer-controlled braking system.
Engine Range, Specs Rumors
The 2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series will most likely be powered by the good ol’ 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel engine that is able to return up to 440 horses and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. Those are quite impressive figures. This unit is rumored to be paired with an automatic gearbox with 10 speeds. Other rumor suggests that under the truck’s hood will be a 6.2L V8 petrol engine, as well as an optional 6.8L V10 unit, but has yet to be confirmed. We don’t have any figures for the gasoline engines, but expect increase in power compared to the current models. What we learned so far is that the F-250 Super Duty will come with the 6-speed TorqueShift-G transmission for its 6.2L V8 powertrain. Also, customers will be able to choose between RWD and 4WD options.
2017 Super Duty Truck Release Date
As for the release date, the 2017 Ford Super Duty F-Series is expected to go on sale by the end of 2016 for the next model year. Prices are still unknown, but expect between $30,000, for the base models, and $60,000, for the higher trim levels and different cab options.
