At the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Ford presented the redesigned 2017 Ford GT, a new high-performance supercar that will be powered by a powerful EcoBoost engine. It is characterized by a fresh and modern exterior design. I must say, it is one of the most beautiful exotic cars I’ve seen. Feel free to take a look at the pictures posted in the photo gallery after the following article and see for yourself how amazing is the new Ford GT 2017 concept.

Exterior and Interior Design

front view

When creating this model, Ford has used carbon fiber and lightweight aluminum materials for its body, making it very light. This will of course have a positive impact on the coupe’s handling and speed. And when it comes to a design, the 2017 Ford GT looks absolutely amazing. It is very low and aerodynamical. There are two big air outlets on the hood, wide lower grille, front splitter, and a set of LED headlights in the front. In the back designers have added a fully active rear spoiler, round taillights, massive dual exhausts and a diffuser below them. The car rides on the 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin’s Super Sport Cup tires.

The interior of the 2017 Ford GT will be inspired by Formula 1, just like the cabins of the Toyota FT-1 Concept and Ferrari FXX K. That means minimalist design of the dashboard, an F1-inspired multifunctional steering wheel with buttons and shift paddles, configurable digital LCD instrument cluster, another color display in the center of the dashboard used for navigation, and two integrated sport seats. Because seats can’t be moved, the steering wheel and pedals can be adjusted.

Engine, Horsepower, Specs, 0-60 Time

The 2017 Ford GT race car is going to be powered by a 3.5L V-6 EcoBoost engine with two turbochargers and direct injection, which will allegedly be able to generate at least 600 horsepower or even more, and probably around 500 pound-feet of torque. It is mounted behind the driver and passenger seats. A dual-clutch 7-speed automatic gearbox will transfer all the power to the rear wheels. A 0-to-60 mph time is estimated at about 4 seconds, while the coupe’s top speed should be more than 200 miles per hour. These are just guesses. We should learn exact details in the upcoming months.

2017 Ford GT Release Date, Cost

Are you excited about this awesome supercar? You should be, because this is not just a concept. It will enter into production and be released in the second half of 2016. It is too early to talk about its exact price tag, but car enthusiasts believe that it will cost more than $140,000. Ford will also build a racing variant for a return at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
