2017 Audi Q5 Redesign

The new model should make its world debut at some of the International Auto Shows in the upcoming period, and its design will be based somewhat on the Q7. Some promotional photos of the 2017 Audi Q5 SUV have been released, you can see them in the gallery below. On the front, it will have a familiar grille with a new horizontal design. The four rings will be positioned on top, just below the hood. The vehicle will have the sharp LED MatrixBeam headlights, which will make the car look more aggressive. Two large air intakes will be positioned above the front bumper. The shape of the rear of the car is rounded, there are no sharp edges. Large liftgate will take most of the rear end of the Q5 and will come with small spoiler on the top. As you can see on the photos, there will be modern LED taillights and a pair of exhaust pipes below the rear diffuser. Designers have used light materials for the vehicle’s body, mostly aluminum and high-strength steel, reducing its wight. This will have positive impact on fuel economy and performance.

New Q5 SUV Interior

Inside, Audi has plans to use the Virtual Cockpit technology. That is a large TFT display positioned behind the steering wheel that replaces the instrument cluster. This technology was recently featured in the new Audi TT model, which made its debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show (see the photo below). The large screen shows all relevant information, navigation maps, and has a digital speedometer and tachometer.

Possible Engine Choices, Specs

According to source, the future Q5 model will be offered with several new engines. It will receive both inline-4 and V-6 gasoline engines. There is the possibility that a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine will also be available, and a more powerful 3.0-liter V-6 engine for the SQ5 model, that is expected to develop over 320 horsepower. And for the first time, Audi has plans to offer a plug-in hybrid model, that will be using the new e-quattro hybrid technology, intended for use with all-wheel-drive system. That means that a petrol engine will be assisted by an electric motor to drive the front wheels, while the second electric motor will run the rear wheels at the same time.

2017 Audi Q5 Release Date, Price

The 2017 Audi Q5 SUV is expected to go into production in late 2016. The sale is likely to occur at the end of that year, or early in 2017. Guys over at AutoExpress assume that the price will be around £32,000 (which is about 53,000 U.S. dollars). Of course, the correct information we’ll know in a year or two. Audi also has some plans to launch other models in its Q lineup. There is a word that the new Q6 will be released, however it will not be sporty, but practical model for all types of terrain and roads.
