2016 Volkswagen Taigun Concept Design
The first Taigun concept was unveiled two years ago at the Auto Show in São Paulo. The design of that model can be seen on photos posted here (more photos in the gallery down below). Its body design is inspired by other modern VW models, mostly by the new Golf and Up! models.
It has a small front grille which flow into the sharp headlights. The headlights look futuristic. There is also a splitter on the front bumper that will allow for better aerodynamics. The hood is slightly convex and rounded, and has two air intakes.
This subcompact crossover comes with roof racks as a standard. On the back, there is a small roof spoiler with additional stop light. As you can see on the photos, there are big square LED taillights, and two trapezoidal exhaust tips protruding from the rear diffuser.
The 2016 Volkswagen Taigun Concept is 3.86 meters long, which means that it is shorter than VW Polo. This is really small crossover SUV for those people who are not much demanding. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Performance and Fuel Economy
The 2016 Volkswagen Taigun Concept will be powered by a 1.0-liter turbo stratified injection engine that can generate 110 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque. According to manufacturer, the SUV can accelerate from the point of rest to 60 mpg in 9.2 seconds. Its maximum speed is limited to 115 mph. When it comes to the fuel economy, this concept model is EPA rated at 52 mpg combined.
The rumor suggest that there will be offered a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine as well. Standard models will feature a front-wheel drive, but there will be offered optional models with a 4WD system.
2016 Volkswagen Taigun Release Date and Price

The rumor is that the price of this small family SUV will be 15,000 euros, which currently amounts to around 20 thousand dollars. The exact pricing details we will find out in the near future.
