The 2016 Volkswagen Sharan is an upcoming Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), which is basically an updated version of the outgoing model. The German automaker presented this family-friendly car at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. The new MPV has been added numerous new systems that would improve its convenience and efficiency. It is expected to go on sale in July 2015.
Exterior and Interior Design
The outside appearance of the 2016 Volkswagen Sharan is slightly different from the previous car. The taillights have been altered; they include a LED indicators. Some two metallic shades, Crimson Red and Hudson Bay Blue, have been added to the shade palette. The new car has the same alloy wheels, but of different size of 16-inch. The entire body is sharpened, something which is more appealing to its customers.
The interior has been upgraded with new materials and accents. The instrument cluster has been perfected. All of them have high-resolution displays and fast processors, enabling high performance, optimized boot-up and faster route calculation. The car also has a new steering wheel and adjustable seats with massaging function. And don’t forget a climate control system and redefined layout applications.
Engine, Specs, Fuel Economy
When it comes to the powering options, the 2016 Volkswagen Sharan has the redesigned petrol and diesel engines, which have been made more powerful and efficient, still complying with the Euro 6 emissions standard. The minivan has two turbocharged petrol units: a 1.4L TSI delivering 110 kW (150 PS, 148 HP) and a 2.0L TSI which is capable of producing 162 kW (220 PS, 217 HP). On the other hand, there are three 2.0-liter TDI power options, delivering the following output figures: 85 kW (115 PS, 114 HP), 110 kW (150 PS, 148 HP), and 135 kW (184 PS, 181 HP). All engines, except the 85 kW/114 HP, may work together with an optional 6-speed dual clutch transmission. The 110 kW TDI can be connected to the AWD system, which is also optional and some extra cash is needed for it to be done on your car. The 2016 Sharan’s turbocharged engines are 15% more efficient than those of the current car, saving a considerable amount of fuel. It consumes about 4.9 – 7.1 liters per 100 km (combined) and emits about 130 – 167 g/km of CO2.
2016 Volkswagen Sharan Release Date, Price
As for the release date, according to the manufacturer, the 2016 Volkswagen Sharan will be going on sale in the summer of 2015, most likely in July. Advanced sales are expected in the last quarter of the year in the German market. As far as the price is concerned, this facelifted model will retail at a slightly higher price than that of its predecessor. The base S trim level comes with a starting price of 25,320 euros, while the top of the line Executive model is priced at 33,775 euros.
