The 2016 McLaren 500S Coupe (P13) will be a less powerful variant of the 650S, making it more affordable. Still, it will have an impressive performance. It will go on sale next summer.

Below, you can see the official sketch of the upcoming model.

The manufacturer will use lightweight materials, like carbon fiber, for the car’s body, to make it lighter, increasing its handling and performance. Given that it will be based on the 650S, it will have a similar front end, with curved hood and boomerang-shaped headlights. The front bumper is expected to be different.

As you can see on the sketch posted above, it will keep the large air intakes behind the doors. And there is no rear wing, because this model will have a trunk.

It looks like the interior of the 2016 McLaren 500S will be similar to the interior of the 650S model. The good thing is that the new model will have more interior space for both driver and passenger.

McLaren P13 Engine and Performance

According to some sources, the new 2016 McLaren 500S will be powered by a 3.8-liter V8 petrol engine that will be able to produce up to 500 horsepower and at least 350 pound-feet of torque. Given these numbers, we can expect a sprint time to 60 mph in 4 seconds, more or less. Its expected top speed is 190-200 mph.

500S Release Date and Price

The word is that there will be three versions of this exotic vehicle. First, the 2016 McLaren 500S mentioned here will be a standard coupe, arriving sometime during the summer of 2015. Open-top model, the 500S Spider, will go on sale one year after that, meaning we will see it in 2016. The most powerful, racing version, the 500S GTS will be unveiled during 2018.

As for the price tag of the base model, also known as the P13, don’t expect its price to be below $187,000.
