The 2016 Honda BR-V is not a usual compact crossover vehicle. Inside, it comes with three rows of seats, having enough room for up to seven passengers. As an alternative to the HR-V, it will soon be available in India, Indonesia and Thailand. The BR-V in its name stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle. Now, let’s see what this model has to offer.

Exterior Design, Colors

Although it has three row of seats inside, the 2016 Honda BR-V is still very compact from the outside. Compared to the HR-V, its wheelbase is only 50 mm longer. It is based of the Brio platform. Some of the exterior features worth mentioning are the LED projector headlights with chrome inserts, fog lamps, connected LED taillights, bulb rear combi stop lights, chrome-laden grille, roof rails, auto-retractable door mirrors, chrome side protectors, 16-inch alloy wheels with 195/60 R16 tires, and underbody protection. Additional Modulo Aero Kit brings 16-inch Y-spoke alloys, chrome accents on the side mouldings and wing mirrors, side skirts, rear spoiler and bigger skid plates, to make it more appealing to the younger potential customers. Available color options include: Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Passion Red Pearl, Misty Green Pearl, and Taffeta White (as seen in the photos).

2016 Honda BR-V 7-Seat Interior

We already mentioned that the all-new 2016 Honda BR-V SUV comes with seven seats in total. However, the third row is kinda tight, having enough space for kids and smaller people. Other two rows are suitable for even taller adults, there is a plenty of headroom and legroom. Honda used premium-quality materials for its interior. As for the equipment, the BR-V includes auto A/C control for both the front and second rows, infotainment system, 6-inch display audio monitor, audio controls on the steering wheel, GPS navigation, safety equipment like dual SRS airbags, stability assist, hill start assist, ABS + EBD, etc.

Engine Option and Specs

As for the powering options, the 2016 Honda BV-R crossover is powered by a four-cylinder 1.5L i-VTEC gasoline engine delivering about 88 Kw (118 hp, 120 PS) and 145 Nm of torque (107 lb-ft). It is mated with either a 6-speed manual transmission or Earth Dreams CVT automatic. The power is sent to the front axle. Some sources claim that a diesel i-DTEC variant may also be available, producing about 98.6 hp and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft). Depending on these options, several trim levels of the BV-R will be available: 1.5L S, 1.5L E and 1.5L Prestige. Expected mileage for the petrol engine is 17-18 km/l, while for the diesel is about 24-25 km/l.

Honda BR-V 2016 Release Date, Price

The new 2016 Honda BR-V SUV debuted during this summer at both the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (2015 GIIAS, IIMS) and Thai International Motor Expo 2015. Another debut is expected at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. It is said to be released in India after April 2016, most likely in mid 2016 for the estimated price of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 12 lakh. In Thailand it’s going to hit the retails stores during the first quarter of 2016. The SUV is already available in Indonesia for order, although deliveries won’t start until January. Its price in Indonesia starts at Rp 226,500,000 and goes up to Rp 261,500,000.
