General Motors has introduced the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition as its new model, celebrating the previous success in racing of the C7. The bad news is that it’s just a little more than a styling package attached onto the base Z06. To create this edition, the company has done a special paint job and took over all the performances from the C7 Z06 to this model. This Special Edition model will be offered as a coupe or convertible, and it is coming in a new hue.

Exterior Design, Color

There is no doubt that this race car styling for the road model will be a big hit, but with production in just 500 units, what are the changes to see this car driving around? Not much. The biggest exterior news is that the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition comes painted in a new hue, yellow-and-black livery, called Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat. If the customer isn’t a fan of this color, this sports coupe is available in black color too. Also, to keep this limited-edition model protected from the weather, especially from dust, it comes with a matching car cover.

This ultra exclusive special edition model also has unique details, such as the black wheels with a pinch of yellow accents and Corvette racing logos, yellow brake calipers, Spectra Gray Metallic painted body trim. Furthermore, there is a new hood with carbon fiber section and exposed carbon fiber for the ground effects. This model has also lost the large splitters and the rear wing, while Chevrolet ditched the sponsor stickers.

Interior Styling

Interior wise, it’s fully equipped with luxurious materials. Inside the cabin, the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition is covered with the Jet Black leather interior package, while the suede microfiber is on the dash and door panels. The suede microfiber can be also found on the seats, the gear shifter and the steering wheel. This supercar is also equipped with some technological gadgets and with Performance Traction Management, Magnetic Ride Control and digital restricted slip differential. Some additional updates include: front curb view parking camera, MyLink connectivity, new available design packages, power-cinching hatch/trunk latch, etc. Every unit will be numbered on interior plaque which will show the build number.

Engine, Specs, Performance, 0-60 Time

Under the hood, everything is the same. So, the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition has a supercharged 6.2L LT4 V-8 with the capacity to produce 650 horses and 650 lb-ft of torque. To keep the maximum of on-track performance, Chevy’s new model comes with the Z06’s optional Z07 Performance Package with Michelin PS Cup 2 tires and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. The coupe can reach the speed of 60 miles per hour from the point of rest in just 2.9 seconds, while the maximum speed of this car is estimated at 200 mph.

2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition Price

General Motors Company hasn’t announced the price for its new model, but to have any insight into the price, the current 2015 Z06 3LZ convertible and coupe with the Z07 Performance Package starts with a price of $101,630 and $105,630 respectively. Since the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition comes in extremely limited production, in just 500 units, it is pretty sure that it will be hard to get, but at the same time, pretty expensive for the buyers. However, it is sure that this sports car will bring very quickly a lot of money to the Chevrolet dealerships, since it is one stunning American car. It should go on sale later this year. The main competitors are the 2015 Dodge Viper and Porsche 911 GT3.
