The third-generation 2016 Cadillac CTS-V got tested and got caught by the camera lens on the streets. Check out the spy shots and read the latest details on the upcoming model.
2016 Cadillac CTS-V Design
Below you can see the artist’s rendering photo of the third-generation 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. The designer has envisioned this model with a slightly larger honeycomb grille.
In reality, as you can see from the spy photos posted in the gallery below, the prototype does have quite a large front grille, however featuring a different vertical-slat design. You may notice the absence of the emblem. Of course, this is only a test model, a production model might be changed. This test model rides on wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
The largest part of the car is covered with camouflage, so it’s hard to spot some of the finer details. Of course, we can still see the shape of the car. On the front, there are also large air intakes, that will certainly help cooling the engine down, and improve the sedan’s overall aerodynamic. Because of this, the front bumper was revised.
The roof slowly descends toward the trunk, which seems short. On the back you can notice a tailgate-mounted spoiler, and two pairs of exhaust tips protruding below the rear bumper.
Word is that the designers will be using aluminum and lightweight materials for this model, which will be built on the so-called “Alpha” platform. Unfortunately for the fans of coupe and wagon vehicles, the new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will be offered only as a luxury sedan variant.
Expected Engine and Performance
When it comes to the powering option, according to our sources, the upcoming 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will be powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine. Similar engine can be found in the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06. The expected power from this unit should be around 600 hp, which will be transferred to the rear wheels through an automatic eight-speed transmission. Minimum torque should be 580 lb-ft.
2016 Cadillac CTS-V Release Date and Price
As for the release date of this luxury model, it is expected that the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will go on sale in the middle of 2015. Price tag has not been announced yet, however we can expect quite a high price for this vehicle, roughly between $66,000 – $75,000.
