Audi will officially introduce the next generation of the 2016 Audi TT sports model at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. There are no official photos of the car, but here are a few teaser images and artwork, which will allow you to get an idea of how the car would actually look like.
2016 Audi TT Design
As you can see in the sketches drawn by Audi’s design team, the 2016 Audi TT looks wider and more modern than its predecessor.
Viewed from the front, noticeable is the big hexagonal grille, the futuristic LED headlights with L-shaped daytime running lamps, and large air intakes on the front bumper. You will also notice that the Audi emblem has been moved to the hood instead of the front grille, which is unusual for the models produced by the German automaker.
There is a line that passes through the door that connects the headlights and taillights. The other two lines descend from the the windshield over the hood down to the inside edge of the headlights and connect to the grille, making the U-shape on the front.
I do not see the best in the drawings, but it looks like the rear end is quite short. It looks like the roof is lowered all the way down to the rear bumper. The design of the taillights are similar to the headlights. The car on the sketch has two exhaust tips, which is not a surprise.
The interior of the next-generation 2016 Audi TT has been presented at the 2014 Las Vegas CES Show. The manufacturer has set a model at the Consumer Electronics Show to give us a sneak peek inside the car.
As you can see, there is no built-in screen on the center console. However, the new TT will have a completely digitalized instrument cluster. In addition to speedometer, tachometer and other data, it will also show you directions. Yes, a GPS navigation system will be integrated within the 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel.
You will be able to switch between two different display modes. To see larger digital gauges you have to choose the classic mode. When you want to use navigation or to activate an audio system, you will have to switch to the infotainment mode.
There are in total of 5 round air vents on the dashboard, one on each side near the door, and three in the middle, above the center console. Each of them has a small display with control knob which you can use to control the air conditioning and temperature of the front seats. This is such as nice addition.
The 2016 Audi TT also features an improved MMI system on the center console, just below the manual transmission, that includes buttons for media, radio, telephone and navigation/maps, menu and back buttons, and rotary knob with a touchpad. The MMI system is connected with an instrument panel.
Also worth mentioning are the brown leather seats with decorative patterns, metallic accents on the center console and steering wheel, and cup holder.
2016 Audi TT Price
It is still early to talk about price of the new model. Just for comparison, the current 2014 coupe is priced at $39,900. Expect this model to be released during 2015.
Update: Audi released new teaser photos of the future TT model. I’ve added one below, while the both high resolution pics can be seen in the gallery.
