The 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is the upcoming convertible model, whose concept made international debut at 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Here are the latest details.

2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Convertible Design

The convertible coupe concept shown in Geneva is light, thanks to the use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials during its production. It’s roof is made of fabric, and can be easily removed. These lightweight materials were also used for the windscreen’s frame and and spoilers. It is painted in the Glossy White color, which fits it just right.

The 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will feature a brand-new design of its headlights, which kinda remind me of the clamshell’s half. On the front there is a small triangular front grille and two large air intakes. The car rides on a set of different wheels than those of a base coupe model. The automaker noted that the exhaust system will be replaced with a new titanium-carbon system created by Akrapovic. Two exhaust tips are sticking out from the rear diffuser. Stop lights are round.

Interior won’t be changed much, meaning that you’ll be able to find the same steering wheel, dashboard with TFT display, installed infotainment system, and center stack that will be driver-oriented. Only the race seats will be covered in different leather material.

4C Spider Engine and Performance

According to our sources, the 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will be powered by a 1.75l I-4 turbo engine that will be able to produce 236-240 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This unit will be paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters, transferring engine power to the rear wheels.

Thanks to this combination, as well as the convertible coupe’s low weight, it will be capable to reach the speed of 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Its maximum speed will be limited to 155 mph (about 250 km/h).

When it comes to the fuel economy, on the European cycle, this coupe is already rated at 24 mpg in the city, and 47 mpg on the highway.

Experts predict that the price of this model could be around €61,200, which is about $83,300. However, there is no word if this convertible will be released in the United States.
