A few months ago, Toyota released the new 2015 Toyota Yaris in Europe and its Vitz clone in Japan. We knew it was just a matter of time before the hatchback would launch in North America and that time has come. When Toyota redesigned the previous Yaris subcompact, the company revealed the remarkable marketing campaign. People were not impressed with it, but the SE model did finish 3rd out of six in a cheap car comparison test.
However, the new model has been restyled inside and outside, and the company has provided the car with a revised look prior to its August sale. We should note that this is not a new-generation model, but it does bring more of a heavy refresh than just a redesign, with considerable changes to the interior, fascias and the chassis.
2015 Toyota Yaris Exterior
The Japanese automaker seems to have paid more attention to the chassis and structure of the new 2015 Toyota Yaris, and thanks to some design work from France, the new hatchback is even more visually appealing. It is tall and yet well proportioned to the sides in either the 3-door or 5-door versions. The car gets new detailing with new hood sculpting, a larger new grille with a black mesh design and a swooping bright line around the large Toyota emblem. The five-door version gets fog lamps, fancy projector headlamps and 16-inch wheels. We also see appreciable upgrades such as distinct steering tuning, an anti-roll bar and 4 wheel disc brakes which are an inch larger than other trims. Also, unique to the SE version is a rear spoiler and LED daytime running lights.
Inside, the new 2015 Toyota Yaris is quite roomy with new soft touch surfaces and additional crannies and nooks for storing small items. The is a huge upgrade as the hatchback gets premium seats and a redesigned dashboard. There are several omissions, like heated seats and steering wheel telescoping but the model’s door locks and power windows are standard throughout the trim levels. The car also comes with a 6.1-inch touch display, an HD audio system, Bluetooth streaming and voice recognition. However, climate controls of the sedan are manual, and there is a wiper display setting.
Engine, Specs, Performance
Under the hood of the 2015 Toyota Yaris is a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 106 horsepower and a 103 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a manual 5-speed transmission, with optional four-speed automatic system available as well. The manual gets a revised clutch for a more smooth operation. Compared to cars of this class the new Yaris is a bit low tech. The engine has no direct injection or turbocharging, but its performance is relatively good. The car is lighter than the previous model, weighing 2300 pounds, 20 pounds lighter and has better fuel efficiency ratings.
2015 Yaris Release Date, Price

Even though, the cost has increased, the content feature has also gone up and Toyota has made worthwhile upgrades to its smallest car.
