The 2015 Subaru Legacy is a midsize sedan that made its official world debut at the international 2014 Chicago Auto Show. Although it is based on a concept model unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, this model has been completely redesigned.
Design of 2015 Subaru Legacy
First, I will say something about the exterior and interior design of this midsize sedan.
For the 2015 model year, this model has been completely refreshed, as can be seen in the pictures in this article and in the gallery below.
It has a revised front end that makes the new 2015 Subaru Legacy look more sporty. There’s a brand-new grille with a Subaru emblem on it, slightly refreshed bumper, and beautiful hawk eye-like headlights.
It should be mentioned that the 2.5i trim level will feature an Active Grille Shutter technology at the front, that is intended to close the front grille in order to improve aerodynamics. It will of course have a positive impact on fuel economy.
On the back, there are new LED taillights, that are standard on all trim levels. Trunk and rear bumper have also been revised, and there is only one exhaust tip on the bottom left side.
And that is not all. The A-pillar has been slightly modified. The windshield’s base has been pulled out by two inches, which improves visibility.
Interior and Accessories
Not only the exterior of the 2015 Subaru Legacy has been revised, but the interior as well. Designers have used more luxurious materials. The cabin is increased, which means that now there is more legroom for driver and passengers. There is also more space in the cargo area.
There are two big gauges behind the steering wheel, and between them is a small 3.5-inch LCD screen that shows additional details, such as the current mpg rating and how many miles the car has traveled. Optional is a 5.0-inch screen for those customers that choose a model with the EyeSight system.
Next to the wheel, in the center area, there is a 6.2-inch touchscreen display that supports GPS navigation and a rearview camera. Other features worth mentioning are HD radio, CD player, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and aux-in ports, iPod control, and many more. Optional is a bigger 7.0-inch display, an audio system with six speakers, SiriusXM satellite radio, and SMS messaging support.
Engine and Performance
The 2015 Subaru Legacy will come with two engine choices. Base model is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is able to develop 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque.
Those of you who want more power will be able to choose an optional 3.6-liter six-cylinder H-6 engine that is able to produce a total of 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.
Whichever engine option you choose, you should know that both of them are mated to a Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) intended for a smooth driving and better fuel efficiency.
Speaking of fuel efficiency, the 2.5i trim levels are rated at 26 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, while the 3.6R models are rated at 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
For the end, just to mention that all models comes with an all wheel drive system as standard.
Release Date and Price
The current model is priced at $20,295. I don’t know how much the 2015 Subaru Legacy will cost, but expect a slightly increased price comparing to a current model. It will be released in the second half of this year.
