2015 Skoda Fabia Review

The 2015 Skoda Fabia is the new hatchback that comes in three trim levels, 15 body colors and several engine options. The base price starts from £10,600. It rides on the same modular platform as the VW Polo, but a bit larger, which makes it better for people in need of a slightly bigger car, which is still not as big as the Golf. Even though at a first glance the new model looks pretty much the same as the older one, in fact VW and Skoda worked extensively in order to make the car better. It is now longer as well as wider, and the design better fits the current lineup. The engines have been also updated with smaller and more efficient units, while on the inside there is now a whole new level of comfort when compared to the previous generation.

Interior and Exterior Styling

Just as we previously said, the 2015 Skoda Fabia is going to change quite a bit on the interior. Most of the interior design elements are going to come from its bigger brothers while the equipment level will be similar to that of a VW Polo. Thanks to the bigger width of the car, there is now more room both in the front and back while the taller car gives the rear seats more head room. Just like before though there isn’t going to be the quality of the materials which Polo has which is a shame considering the price is quite close to it. Some of the equipment include air conditioning, steering wheel with radio controls, 6.5-inch touch display, infotainment system that supports connection with a smartphone, MirrorLink, SD card reader, USB connectors, Bluetooth, etc.

The exterior of the new 2015 Skoda Fabia will also change but not as much as we would like. In fact, most of the glass on the car as well as the doors and some of the panels are going to be very similar in design to the older model if not identical. The only real change is going to be the design of the front end which is now inspired by that of the Octavia with LED headlights and a cleaner look with sharper lines while at the back the new Fabia will now get the same angular design as the Rapid which really gives it a nice look. The car is available with a set of 16-inch alloy wheels and in 15 body color styles.

Engine Range, Specs, Performance

Engine wise, the 2015 Skoda Fabia is available with several different engines, with one more to come on a later date. The base car comes with a 1.0L 3-cylinder MPI gasoline unit, available in two variants, which are able to deliver 59/73 horsepower (44/55 kW) and 70 lb-ft of torque. In both cases, only a 5-speed manual is going to be available. This can be the perfect engine for a city offering a really nice sound and nice performance level when the car is not fully loaded. Next, a 1.2-liter turbo I-4 is the obvious choice, offering 88/108 horses (66/81 kW) and 118/129 pound-feet of twist, respectively. This TSI comes with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox, and unlike what most people think, it is more fuel efficient than the base engine at highway speeds. Turbo diesel unit include a 1.4L TDI with 3 cylinders, producing either 88 horsepower (66 kW) and 169 pound-feet of torque, or 103 hp (77 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission.

2015 Skoda Fabia Price

There are three trim levels available for the new 2015 Skoda Fabia. The base S trim has a starting price of $16,146. The SE trim level is available for $19,436, while the most expensive SE L is priced at $20,730. In the United Kingdom, the car stars from £10,600. Unfortunately there is not going to be a high performance version this year, but this might change in the future.
