The 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan was unveiled at the 2014 New York Auto Show. Although there are some new details, it did not receive a larger upgrade. Let’s see what you can expect from this “new” model. Here’s my review.

2015 Nissan Versa Sedan Design

front view

The front end of the 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan has been slightly revised. It has a reshaped front grille with chrome plates, a pair of new headlights, slightly changed bumper and new fog light finisher design. That is all you can see on the front that differs from the previous model year.

Viewed from its profile, the car also has new side mirrors (some trim levels have integrated turn signals in side mirrors) and chrome door handles. The shape of the new Versa is pretty much the same. It rides on the new 15-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

On the back, there are new taillights that follow the lines of a trunk, small rear spoiler with additional stop light, sporty rear bumper with small diffuser and one exhaust tip.

Standard color options include Metallic Blue, Brilliant Silver, Titanium, Super Black, Fresh Powder and Red Brick, as well as two new body colors — Amethyst Gray and Graphite Blue (shown in photos on this page).

Interior Styling

Inside, there is enough space and legroom for up to five adult passengers, and the seats are really comfortable. If you take a look at the picture below, you will notice that the dashboard has been slightly refreshed, the center stack has been reshaped. The new addition is a 5.0-inch LED display. The multifunctional steering wheel has also been redesigned. It comes with audio controls and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity support. The center console is pretty much the same, just like the rest of the cabin.

If you want more accessories in your 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan, of course for the additional money, you can get a 5.0-inch touch display with an AM/FM/CD audio system, USB, aux-in and iPod connectors, installed NissanConnect system with mobile apps, smartphone connectivity support, Radio Data System, push button start, temperature display, additional illumination, and upgraded seat fabric.

There is a 14.9 cubic feet of storage space, which can be increased by folding down the rear seats.

Engine and Fuel Economy

Engine of the 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan did not receive any changes. This means that the car is powered by a 1.6-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine that is able to develop 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, while the optional choice include an Xtronic CVT or 4-speed automatic transmission.

This engine is not much powerful, therefore fuel economy is not at a high level. It is rated at 27 mpg city and 36 mpg highway if you use a manual transmission, 26/35 mpg city/highway with an automatic, while the CVT improves fuel economy and this time it is rated at 31 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.

Trim Levels and Prices

The 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan will be offered in five trim levels. The base 1.6 S level will have a starting price of $11,990 and it comes with a 1.6-l inline-4 engine and a manual transmission. If you choose an automatic gearbox, the price rises to $12,990.

Next three models come with a 1.6-liter engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT). The 1.6 S Plus will be priced at $13,790, those customers who buy the 1.6 SV will have to pay $15,240, while the most expensive model is the 1.6 SL and it will cost about $16,890.

Of course, there is an additional technology package that includes 5.8-inch touchscreen display with NissanConnect software and GPS navigation, NavTraffic and NavWeather, Google-powered POIs, Pandora satellite radio, hands-free, text messaging assistant, and rearview camera. This package will add $760 to the final price of the sedan.
