Two teaser photos of the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S have been released ahead of hybrid’s debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show this October.
2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S Design
According to the Japanese manufacturer, the two teaser photos shown here don’t preview a brand-new vehicle, but rather a special design package for the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid. The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S package will bring the refined exterior and interior design, making it sporty and sophisticated.
As you can see in the photos, the new model looks like an updated version of the 2013 Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV that was presented at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. If you don’t know about this model, you can check the photos in the gallery below this article.
The Concept-S has a larger front end, with bigger air intake. It has a revised arches around the headlights, stretching all the way down to the bumper. The similar design is used at the back of the car. There are also new taillights.
Of course, these teasers are just sketches, and the final Concept-S might be slightly different when it made its debut in Paris.
Hybrid Engine and Performance
According to Mitsubishi, this 4×4 SUV will also have superior performance, thanks to its twin-motor plug-in hybrid system. The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S is expected to feature 2.0-litre 4-cylinder gasoline engine, that will be able to produce more than 200 horsepower, with the help of twin electric motors. The SUV will also have improved fuel economy.
Outlander Hybrid Concept-S Release Date
The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S will be officially unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, that starts on October 2nd. We will know all the details after its debut. Experts estimate that the price of this special package can be more than $35,000.
As for the release date of the brand-new model, not just the design package, it is expected to arrive sometime in 2017.
