Not too long ago most cars which came from the Korean car manufacturer, Kia, weren’t exactly the prettiest of the show being often classified as average at best. However, just a few years ago they starting making better looking cars and their latest concept cars are just gorgeous. This is exactly the case with the 2015 Kia Novo Concept, which debuted at the 2015 Seoul Motor Show. Before its release it was considered to be just another average car, but after it was released and shown to the public, it quickly became one of the best looking sedans Kia ever made and pretty much one of the top cars in terms of look today. However, take into account that it hasn’t been released just yet on the market so the final design might change.

Concept Exterior Design

Luckily though, Kia usually makes their production cars quite similar to the concepts they’re based on, so the #Novo might see life as a car slotted just above the Optima. This would make it quite a nice option for people looking for an executive car that isn’t a German saloon. The concept also has the luck of being a fastback rather than just a normal saloon, so it has a longer front hood, a shorter rear trunk as well as an arched roof-line, allowing it to be quite a bit more impressive than most of its future competitors.

Let’s start our small preview with the exterior because this is likely the most interesting part about the 2015 Kia Novo Concept. The front end has a shark-nose design, it gets side-grilles which may help cool the brakes and exhaust hot air from the engine compartment while the back is very clean, offering a very nice contrast between it and the rest of the vehicle. From the side it look more like a coupe than anything else thanks to the fact that the rear doors don’t have handles and this is mostly because these open in reverse, feature which has been absent from the market for too long. The concept sits on a set of 20-inch wheels, but the actual production model is likely going to get 18- or 19-inch wheels wrapped in high performance tires.

Interior Styling

The interior of the 2015 Kia Novo Concept is just as impressive as the exterior and even though it is a concept, it could easily be a production car with this interior. It is simple, clean and quite spartan considering it is on an executive car. The steering wheel has quite a few functions on it, the instrument cluster is a fully 3D digital unit which can be customized, while the center console gets a touchpad with a fingerprint scanner which can be used for control of various functions. This can be controlled via a small joystick on the center console, making it quite easy to use. It is also worth mentioning that the concept only has four individual seats, which is still fine considering it will be able to offer more comfort to its four passengers than it competitors.

2015 Kia Novo Concept Engine, Specs

Engine wise, it is yet unclear what type of unit Kia is going to choose for the production model but the 2015 Kia Novo Concept is being powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine, paired with a 7-speed DCT. Unfortunately, Kia hasn’t released what kind of power this engine could make, but we suspect it is more than the usual 150 to 160 horsepower. In fact, we assume that the automaker will offer the Novo with around 240 horsepower, which is enough for a base engine, but not enough for an executive car. Considering it is front-wheel drive model it is pretty unlikely to see exotic engines in a production car, but a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with more than 300 horsepower is a very likely possibility.
