The 2015 Gumpert Explosion is a supercar that made its world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Let’s see what we know about this model so far. First, I am going to say something about its specs.

2015 Gumpert Explosion Performance

rear view

Since this is a sports car, its performance results are amazing. The 2015 Gumpert Explosion is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine that provides astounding 420 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. There is also a choice of a 6-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.

According to the manufacturer, this sports car can reach the speed of 60 mph (~96.5 km/h) from the point of rest in just 3.0 seconds. Estimated top speed has not been announced, but some sources claim that it might be about 300 km/h, which means that it should be above 186 mph.

One source claims that the improved Explosion S models is also in the works and that will have a more powerful 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine that will be able to produce 503 hp horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque.

Exterior Design

Viewed from the front, the car looks quite aggressive. What I like the most is the X-shaped front bumper, that surrounds the grille and two large air intakes. There are also very attractive headlights, and a hood that seems like it consist of two parts where one overlaps another.

The rear of the car is kinda similar to the front, with a pair of large air outtakes, wide bumper, and sharp lines of the taillights. On the bottom, there is a diffuser with a par of exhaust tips, each tip on the opposite side of the bumper.

Somehow it looks as if the car is a lot wider from the front and behind as compared to the middle part. Overall, it really looks powerful.

Interior Styling

There are not many pictures of the interior, just the one you can see above, and another one showing the front seats, which you can see in the gallery below.

What I can see from the pictures is that the 2015 Gumpert Explosion will have racing seats, which is not unusual for this kind of a car. What is unusual to me is that there is no infotainment system. It all seems kind of simple and plain, but the cabin is upholstered in black and red materials, and seats are wrapped in leather.

What I can not help but notice that the interior of this car is similar to the interior of the 2014 Audi S3 or A3 sedan, with the exception of all those gadgets that can be found in Audi. The arrangement of elements, such as air vents, is quite similar, even the steering wheel is virtually the same.

Release Date and Price

The 2015 Gumpert Explosion is planned for 2014, so we can expect it by the end of this year. The starting price of this model will be about $145,000, which is equal to €105,000 at a current exchange rates.
