The 2015 GMC Canyon is an upcoming pickup truck set to go into production this fall and on sale soon after that. It will be a competitor to 2015 Ford F-150, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma. Keep reading to learn latest details regarding its design, performance, and price tag.
2015 GMC Canyon Pickup Truck Design
On the front, this pickup truck has an aluminum hood, big front grille with active aero shutters and chrome surround, and projector-beam headlights with LED daytime running lighting.
Depending on a model you choose, the 2015 GMC Canyon comes in several trim levels and body configurations, with normal or extended beds. Each model will feature EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate and integrated CornerStep rear bumper. Some models will be offered with the 17-inch aluminum wheels and all-terrain tires.
Inside, the 2015 GMC Canyon is roomy enough and quite comfortable. It is also equipped with a lot of modern accessories and connectivity systems. As you can see in the photo below, the dashboard has an 8-inch color touch display between air vents showing useful information. Everything can also be controlled via controls below the screen or via a steering wheel-mounted buttons. The instrument panel behind the wheel has large gauges.
Center console is large and has two cup holders, right next to the shift lever. In front of it, there are 4 USB ports and a charging outlet, where you can connect your smartphone to charge it. Seats are wrapped in leather and enhanced with seat foam that enhances comfort. Optional are carbon-fiber-inspired trims and red stitching.
New GMC Canyon Engine and Performance
The upcoming pickup truck from General Motors will be offered with two engine choices. First unit that will be powering the 2015 GMC Canyon is a 2.5-liter I-4 engine with direct injection and electronic throttle control producing 193 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This will be the standard option.
Second option include a 3.6-liter V-6 VVT direct fuel injection engine that will be able to deliver 302 horses and torque of 270 pound-feet. Both power units will be paired with automatic 6-speed transmission as a standard, while there will also be an optional manual gearbox offered with Extended Cab and 2WD trim levels.
2015 GMC Canyon Release Date and Price
We know for sure that the new 2015 GMC Canyon pickup truck release date is set for the fall of 2014. It will be offered in several trim levels, including SLT and SLE trims, among the base model, and each of them will come in both 2WD and 4WD variants.
Prices were not announced yet. Let’s say that the base price tag might be between $20,000-$25,000. Expect increase in pricing for the SLE and SLT models, which might be available for at least $40,000 with all additional equipment and an All Terrain appearance package.
