The new 2015 Citroen C1 will be presented at the 2014 International Motor Show in Geneva this March. It is one of the most popular Citroen models, so I believe that the new model is highly anticipated.
2015 Citroen C1 Design
The French automaker released some photos of the new model, you can see how this urban vehicle will look from the front in the picture below. It kinda reminds me of the 2015 Renault Twingo.
The 2015 Citroen C1 will be available in two variants. Customers will be able to choose between a regular hatchback model and the version with a large fabric roof that opens. Literally the entire roof can be rolled back so that you can enjoy driving during hot, sunny days.
After reading this review, you can see the pictures in the gallery at the bottom. A couple of pictures are showing what it looks like when the roof is open.
If I understand correctly, the hatchback model will come with 3 doors, while the Airscape model with the roll-back top will have 5 doors. Although it is possible that both hatchback and open-top models will come with a choice of 3 or 5 doors.
Now, once again take a look at the photo above. I do not know about you, but the front end reminiscent of the face, where the LED headlights and daytime running lights are the eyes with eyebrows. The front bumper looks kinda bulky, with large trapezoidal air intake.
On the back, what I like the most are the square LED taillights, which are designed to create a 3D effect. The lights look like they are part of the tailgate, but they are not. The tailgate opens separately and has a small rear spoiler on top. Exhaust tip is not visible.
The C1 will be available in several body color options: Lipizan White, Carlinite or Gallium Grey, Caldéra Black, Olive Brown, Scarlet or Sunrise Red, and Smalt Blue.
Sorry, we are no pictures of the interior of the car, but I have some details. The cabin will be colored in bright shades and it will be completely redesigned. Because the 2015 Citroen C1 is a small, compact vehicle, there will be room for up to four adult passengers, if you want ride to be more comfortable.
The dashboard will be characterized by the clean and structured lines. In the center console there will be a 7-inch touchscreen display that will allow you to use all multimedia functions. It will feature a Mirror Screen technology, that will let you to transfer all the content from the screen of your smartphone on display in the car. You will have access to all your media files and contacts. Just connect your device via a USB port.
Some of the features worth mentioning are: an automatic A/C control, heated front seats, power adjusted front seats with memory function, cup holders, spacious glovebox, reversing camera, hill start assist, USB connection port, GPS navigation, electric power steering, etc.
In the trunk, there is a lot of space for all your stuff. If you fold the rear seats down, the cargo space increases from 196 liters to as much as 780 liters.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood of the 2015 Citroen C1 there will be a choice of two petrol engines. First, there will be a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder e-VTi 68 Airdream engine that will be able to produce 68 horsepower. It will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission and will feature a start/stop system. There will be a choice of Efficient Tronic Gearbox. Fuel economy rating is not known for this powertrain.
Other engine choice include a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder VTi 82 engine PureTech engine that will be able to develop 82 horsepower and 118 Nm (~87 lb-ft) of torque. It will also be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. With this engine, the car consumes about 4.3 liters per 100 km (it is about 65 mpg combined by EU standards, or 54.1 mpg by US standards) and emits 99 g/km of CO2 emissions.
According to the manufacturer, the C1 will be able to reach a speed of 100 km/h (~62 mph) in 11 seconds.
