The 2015 BMW X3 crossover SAV made its debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The changes of the exterior are there, but not abundant, so this redesign might not appeal to everyone.

Exterior Design

2015 BMW X3

The new BMW is not much changed, but the biggest change is made on the front of the car. As you can see in the photo above, the car features a familiar BMW grille, revised front bumper, new dual ring LED headlights around the xenon headlights, small round halogen fog lights, and a nicely contoured hood.

I am not sure if you can notice from the photos, but the side mirrors are also new and come with integrated turn signals. The facelifted models will also get new alloy wheels. Optional packages add premium 18-, 19- and even 20-inch alloy wheels.

Around the back, there is a new rear chrome bumper, with just one exhaust pipe. The taillights look quite aggressive and modern. The tailgate takes up most of the back of the car, and it features a Smart Opener for automatic opening.

Interior Styling

Inside, the 2015 BMW X3 has also been changed. The seats and door panels are covered in leather, there are chrome and wood trims all over the place. The center console has dual cup holders hidden below the sliding armrest, a climate control with micro filter, the iDrive controller with a touchpad, and other functions.

Other controls can be found on the steering wheel. Behind it, there is a large instrument cluster with big round speedometer and tachometer. In the center of the dashboard is an infotainment display.

Other features worth mentioning are pedestrian warning system, front collision warning system, cruise control, electrically adjustable front seats, driver’s seat with memory function, panoramic moonroof, power tailgate, rear-window defroster, ambient lighting, USB and Bluetooth audio connection, CD/MP3 player, AM/FM and HD radio, etc.

Engine and Performance

The upcoming 2015 BMW X3 is powered by several engine options. First, there is a rear-wheel drive model which is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine that can develop 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine will be also used with the all-wheel drive model. Both models are able to reach the speed of 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.

Second engine, which is new for this vehicle lineup, is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel engine mated to an eight-speed auto gearbox that can produce only 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. However, according to manufacturer, this is the most fuel efficient engine. We have to trust them, because they didn’t give any specific numbers. This powertrain will be available only with AWD models. 0-60 mph time is also unknown.

Finally, there is a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine also mated to a new 8-speed auto transmission, that can produce astounding 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the all-wheel drive models are able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 6 seconds, more precisely 5.3 seconds.

There is also an option for potential owners to order a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 8-speed automatic gearbox can be combined with optional shift paddles for easy gear changes.
