The new 2014 Peugeot Exalt Concept is a futuristic-looking hybrid coupe that will be presented to visitors of the 2014 Beijing Auto Show this April.

Design of 2014 Peugeot Exalt Concept

The front end of this concept coupe looks really aggressive with those sharp headlights. Take a look at the photo below and see for yourself.

2014 Peugeot Exalt Concept front

The whole front end, hood, roof and doors are made from a steel, while the rear end is made from some kind of a “shark-skin” textured material. Like I said, the twin headlights are very modern and give the aggressiveness to this model. Small front grille has a big lion badge in the middle, and above it there is a Peugeot text. There are huge air inlets on the front bumper for cooling the brakes and the engine. The hood is very long and sculpted on both sides.

The rear end is painted in different color and makes a nice contrast to the rest of the car. According to the manufacturer, this textured structure improves the aerodynamics of the 2014 Peugeot Exalt Concept. The three-part taillights also look very modern. The tailgate is designed to look as if the car has a rear spoiler. There are big air outlets on both sides and below them you can find flat exhaust tips.

Interior Styling

For the interior of the 2014 Peugeot Exalt Concept, designers have used a lot of different premium materials. In the photo below, you will notice that the dashboard is made mostly of the real wood. Also used are steel, wool and leather materials. All these make the interior look very enjoyable and futuristic.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel is quite unusual, and behind it there are two touchscreens on the instrument cluster. On the driver’s right side, you can find nine toggle switches, used for controlling various elements of the car, such as the cabin black lights.

Check out the photos in the gallery after this article to see how the beautiful interior is.

HYbrid4 Powertrain System

The French manufacturer used the new HYbrid4 system in the 2014 Peugeot Exalt Concept. If you don’t know what HYbrid4 is, it is an AWD system developed by PSA Peugeot Citroen that consists of a combination of a diesel engine and electric motor. Diesel engine drives the front axle, while an electric motor powers the rear axle.

Under the hood, Exalt has a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, that can reportedly develop 270 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. In a combination with a 70-hp electric motor, it can generate a total of 340 horsepower.

There are three driving modes: all electric, gasoline, and hybrid mode. During braking, the released heat energy is used to charge the Li-Ion battery that is used to power the electric motor. Of course, you can charge the battery normally at your home or at charging stations.

2014 Peugeot Exalt Release Date

The new Exalt might not ever get into mass production, but the French manufacturer can take advantage of some advanced technology and use them in future models. The word is that this design language will be used for the next-gen 408 sedan.

Like I said, it will make its debut at the 13th Beijing International Automobile Exhibition, which will take place from April 21 to April 29. If you’re going to visit China, do not miss this auto show.
