Details on the 2014 Audi S1 Quattro have leaked ahead of its debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. This small but fast car will be available to Europeans during this year. Keep reading to learn more about its design and performance, as well as its price.

Design of 2014 Audi S1 Quattro

front view

Customers will be able to choose between two versions of this model: the standard 2014 Audi S1 Quattro with three doors, and a five-door Sportback model that looks a little more attractive.

Seen from the front, if you imagine that the headlights are the eyes of this car, it seems like it’s angry. The xenon plus headlights wrapped in LED daytime running lights look really modern, with all the sharp edges. Between them is a large octagonal grille with the manufacturer’s emblem in the middle. Down on the bumper you will notice the lack of fog lights, instead there are two air intakes.

The rear of the 2014 Audi S1 Quattro is almost flat and it slightly lowered down from the roof to the rear diffuser with two pair of exhaust pipes. Above the rear window is a two-part spoiler. The spoiler and roof are painted in black at the Sportback model, which makes a nice contrast with the brighter yellow color. There are also modern LED taillights with horizontally structured graphics.

Also worth mentioning are the modern 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels (optional are 18-inch wheels), extended side skirts, dark metallic side mirrors. Aside from red and yellow colors, customers will be able to buy their car painted in a new Sepang Blue color.

Interior Styling

The interior of the 2014 Audi S1 Quattro is characterized by Audi’s distinctive style. It is mainly dominated by dark colors, with the addition of shades in which the car’s body is painted (the area around the gearbox, the seams on the steering wheel, mats, seats and doors). During the night, the buttons glow a bright red, which is a nice detail.

I like the standard sport seats that are upholstered in Milano leather combined with Olympic cloth. It is said that the optional black Fine Nappa leather seats will also be available.

One of the cool features is a retractable 6.5-inch display that comes preloaded with Driver’s Information System. It just pops-up from the dashboard when you need to use it.

Below the screen is a radio with audio CD support, connected to a 6-speaker audio system. If you have an iPod you can connect it via the connection port and play your favorite music direct from a device. Also, there is a BlueTooth connection support, so you can connect your smartphone.

Quattro Engine and Performance

The word “Quattro” in the title of this vehicle means that it will bring the power to all four wheels via its AWD system. The 2014 Audi S1 Quattro will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TFSI engine that will be good for 231 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.

The engine will be matted to a 6-speed manual transmission, as you can see in the pictures in the gallery after this article. There is also a rumor that there will be a choice of a dual-clutch automatic transmission. I’m not sure if this is true.

Both models will have a maximum speed of 155 mph (~250 km/h), but the base S1 model will be able to reach the speed of 62 mph (~100 km/h) a little bit faster than the Sportback model (5.8 and 5.9 seconds, respectively).

As for the fuel economy, the carmaker claims that the three-door version consumes 7.0 l/100 km, while the five-door model consumes 7.1 l/100 km. It is about 33 mpg combined by EPA standards.

2014 Audi S1 Release Date and Price

The 2014 Audi S1 Quattro will be officially presented at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. For a start, the car will be available in Germany and U.K. in the spring of 2014. I am not sure if there will be a model for the U.S. market, but the rest of the Europe will be able to enjoy in this vehicle by the end of the second quarter of this year.

The base model with three doors will have a starting price of €29,950, which is about $40,660. The sports version with five doors will be priced at €30,800, that is about $41,814 at the current exchange rates.

It was confirmed that the Australian market will get their model as well. The exact price is not known, but customers in Australia can expect a price of about 50 thousand dollars.
